O direito ao acesso e à participação ativa de todos é garantido no artigo n.º 27 da Declaração Internacional de Direitos Humanos de 1948. Para a ONU, a definição de acessibilidade é o processo de conseguir a igualdade de oportunidades em todas as esferas da sociedade (online). Dodd e Sandell (1998) e Sassaki (2005) classificam esta ideia em diferentes dimensões para além da acessibilidade física, como a informativa, a cultural, a financeira, a emocional, a intelectual e a sensorial (Dodd & Sandell, 1998), e a arquitetónica, a comunicacional, a metodológica, a instrumental, a programática e a atitudinal (Sassaki, 2005), a serem consideradas em projetos de acessibilidade. Atualmente, a Tradução Audiovisual e as suas modalidades dispõem de recursos que promovem a mediação cultural e, consequentemente, a inclusão e a acessibilidade. Um dos principais objetivos do projeto é «trazer» o distrito de Bragança para o mapa da acessibilidade, particularmente no contexto museológico. Assim, descreveremos as fases seguidas na construção dos textos com audiodescrição e em linguagem simples, no Museu da Terra de Miranda, em Miranda do Douro, e no Museu do Abade de Baçal, em Bragança. Paralelamente, refletiremos sobre os pontos fortes dos projetos, as dificuldades mais prementes e as estratégias utilizadas para as ultrapassar.
The right to the access and active participation is guaranteed in article
no. 27 of the International Declaration of Human Rights from 1948. According to
the UN, the definition of accessibility is the process by which one achieves equal
opportunities in all dimensions of social life (online). Dodd and Sandell (1998)
and Sassaki (2005) organise this concept around different dimensions that surpass
the physical one, such as the informative, the cultural, the financial, the emotional,
the intellectual and the sensorial (Dodd & Sandell, 1998), and the architectural,
the communicational, the methodological, the instrumental, the programmatic and
the attitudinal (Sassaki, 2005), all essential when working in accessibility projects.
Presently, Audiovisual Translation and its modes use resources that promote cultural
mediation and, ultimately, inclusion and accessibility. This project aimed at “putting”
the district of Bragança on the map of accessibility, especially for museums.
This paper intends to report on the different stages followed in this project, namely
in the construction of the texts with audiodescription and in plain language, at the
Museum of Miranda, in Miranda do Douro, and the Museum of the Abbot of Baçal,
in Bragança. We also wish to reflect upon the strengths of the project, the most
notorious difficulties and the strategies used to overcome them.
