CIEB - Research Centre in Basic Education - is a Research Unit of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.
The central activity of CIEB is to conduct research activities in the area of Basic Education, encompassing the following dimensions: Teacher Training; Pedagogical Supervision; Curricular Development; Education for Development; Pedagogical Innovation; Digital Skills.
CIEB aims at promoting, in a systematic and permanent way, innovation and modernization, as well as quality intervention and research practices, within initial and continuous training in Basic Education. In addition, the articulation with the community and competent entities in its interest areas constitute a cornerstone in the structuring and development of its projects.
The specificity of CIED is centred on the scientific research pertaining to Basic Education, considering an holistic approach interconnecting several dimensions, on the development of scientific knowledge and transformation of professional contexts, both for the improvement of children's learning and for the professional development of teachers and educators.
CIEB aims at identifying opportunities for pedagogical innovation in children's learnings and in basic education teacher training, monitoring and evaluating innovation and pedagogical and organizational change projects, geared towards the development of empowering learning environments, the creation of praxeological knowledge to support basic education teaching practices and students' learnings, the analysis of their social and academic impact; the promotion of scientific research publications, critical and collective; the support the development of young researchers and the promotion of scientific employment; the cooperation and interchange with other research national and international units within CIEB's research scope.
To fulfil its objectives, CIEB commits to an action strategy crossing fundamental investigation with action-research involving collaborative work and reflection upon practice, rigor, organization, conceptual and methodological support, persistence and continuity.
10.3 Summary in English for evaluation
The Research Centre in Basic Education CIEB is a research unit focused on the specificities of basic education, understood as fundamental for learning and, consequently for the development of societies, ensuring the participation, the equality and the social justice. The CIEB focuses on a holistic vision of education that connects the curriculum, in-service and pre-service teacher education, collaborative work with educational contexts, pedagogy and didactics, and applied research to promote innovation and the quality of student learning and professional development. The mission that stems from this vision of education, assumed in the development of pedagogical projects, is carried out through cooperative support to students and their families, promoting their educational and social success, and their basic and transversal learning skills through training and collaborative work with professionals, creating a solid technical-scientific knowledge. To fulfil that propose CIEB assumes a strategy for action which crosses fundamental, systematics, a coherent and consistent investigation with action-research which involves collaborative work and reflection upon practice, rigour, organisation, conceptual and methodological support, persistence, and continuity. Strategies for action consider the holistic vision which shapes the centre and interconnects initial and continuous basic education teacher training. The need to produce praxeological knowledge transformation of educational contexts through the creation of innovative practices promoting academic and social student success, considering autonomy, diversity, flexibility, differentiation, creativity, and curricular articulation in basic education. The purpose of research in the field of education is to improve the quality of education that students receive. Consider these the strategic objectives materialised in the following actions: 1 identifying opportunities for pedagogical innovation in students' learnings and in teacher training which implies the promotion of scientific employment advanced training; 2 design, monitor and evaluate pedagogical and organisational projects in the development of enabling learning environments. Our core commitment is to identify how the CIEB research outcomes can be used to enhance good practices and to move toward policies and systems that support excellence and equity in workplace learning consistently and comprehensively. This line of action interconnected with the third strategic axis which aims at the creation of praxeological knowledge to support teaching practices and basic education students learning, analysing their social and academic impact. This kind of research constituted as a connection between the contexts of work and higher education, towards which the experience of some team members in this area contribute, submitted to Intermunicipalities Community CIM competition it awaits financing. 3 The team members are involved several projects that enabling the research. Promotion and divulgation of scientific investigation will be attained through participation in conferences of a scientific nature, furthering members publications in journals in English and Portuguese given the relevance of diffusion of knowledge in Portuguese speaking countries. Seminars and workshops will be stimulated allowing for the dissemination of emerging knowledge. 4 Development of multimedia online communication strategies and creation of educational models and digital publications. The use of Journal EDUSER to further scientific and professional debate, the interchange of ideas and diffusion of investigation results conducive to changes in educational and formative practices. The creation of links on the CIED webpage for the projects underway, also being considered the continuous updating and up keeping of CIED's website was the data gathered in investigations, and member's publications will be available; 5 The team is involved in the organization of scientific conferences to which continuity is desired such as Iberian Conference on Innovation on Education Using ICT ieTIC, and 3rd International Conference on Teacher Education. The cooperation with other institutions and the internationalization is one of the centres' objectives materialized through development projects in partnership. We also highlight the ongoing project of master degrees with the Universities of São Tomé and Principe and Cape Verde. Other forms of internationalisation and integration in networks such as the association EECERA, the EERA and the ATTE will be encouraged. We work towards the integration and inclusion, at all times, with these organisations to create a productive partnership, mitigating this risk.
O CIEB - Centro de Investigação em Educação Básica - é um centro de investigação da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança.
A investigação em Educação Básica é a atividade central do CIEB, abarcando as seguintes dimensões: Formação de Professores; Supervisão Pedagógica; Desenvolvimento Curricular; Educação para o desenvolvimento; Inovação Pedagógica; e, Competências Digitais.
O CIEB pretende promover, de forma permanente e sistemática, a inovação e a modernização, bem como práticas de intervenção e investigação de qualidade no âmbito da formação inicial e contínua em Educação Básica. A articulação com a comunidade e entidades com competências nas suas áreas de interesse, constituem um alicerce fundamental na organização e desenvolvimento dos seus projetos.
A especificidade do CIEB centra-se na investigação científica relativa à Educação Básica, recorrendo a uma abordagem holística que interconecta diversas dimensões, pelo desenvolvimento do conhecimento científico e transformação dos contextos profissionais, quer para a melhoria da aprendizagem das crianças, quer para o desenvolvimento profissional dos educadores e professores.
O CIEB visa identificar as oportunidades de inovação pedagógica na aprendizagem dos alunos e na formação de professores de educação básica, conceber, monitorizar e avaliar projetos de inovação e mudança pedagógica e organizacional para o desenvolvimento de ambientes de aprendizagem habilitadores; criar conhecimento praxeológico para apoiar as práticas docentes e a aprendizagem dos alunos de educação básica, analisando o seu impacto académico e social; promover a publicação de pesquisas científicas, críticas e coletivas; apoiar o desenvolvimento de jovens investigadores e a promoção de emprego científico; promover a cooperação e o intercâmbio com outras unidades de investigação nacionais e internacionais no domínio de investigação do CIEB.
Para a concretização dos objetivos definidos o CIEB assume uma estratégia de ação que cruza a investigação fundamental, com a investigação-ação que envolve trabalho colaborativo e reflexão sobre a prática, rigor, organização, suporte concetual e metodológico, persistência e continuidade.
