As práticas iniciáticas de integração revestiram-se de diversas formas, sofreram inúmeras oposições,
estiveram proibidas ou suspensas em diferentes momentos históricos. Defendidas por muitos, incompreendidas por
alguns, abusivas e mal exercidas por outros é um ritual controverso que muito tem dado que falar. Ultimamente a
controvérsia tem vindo a lume por parte dos progenitores dispostos a agir sobre os órgãos de governo das
instituições na tentativa de pôr cobro a esta situação. Pretende-se aprofundar o conhecimento sobre as diversas
perspectivas a respeito da praxe dos estudantes do ensino superior do primeiro e segundo ano de cinco cursos da
área da saúde. Em Portugal é ainda escassa a investigação neste domínio. Por tudo isto, torna-se necessário estudálas
e entendê-las através de um enquadramento metodológico que nos conduziu à criação de uma escala que
designamos de Escala de Percepção dos Rituais de Integração e Socialização Académica (EPRISA). A análise dos
dados, permite-nos obter evidências empíricas sobre tão controversa e actual problemática e planear formas de
intervenção.Abstract: The initiatory practices of integration were coated in various ways, suffered many oppositions, have
been banned or suspended in several historical times. Advocated by many, misunderstood by some, unfair and
badly-performed by others, they constitute a controversial ritual, which in recent years has given much to talk
about. Lately the controversy has come to light by parents willing to act on the governing bodies of institutions in
an attempt to remedy this situation. It is intended to deepen the knowledge about the several perspectives on the
practices in higher education students of the first and second year of the five courses in the area of health. In
Portugal there is still scarce research in this field. For all this, it is absolutely necessary to study and understand
them through a methodological framework that led us to the development of a scale which we call Perception Scale
of Academical Integration and Socialization Rituals (EPRISA). The data analysis allows us to obtain empirical
evidence about such controversial and current issues and plan ways of intervention.
