abstract
This paper presents the experience of building a light electric vehicle in the context of an university campus as part of a wider
initiative called VERCampus – Live Campus of Renewable Energies – which integrates a set of technologies, infrastructures,
and initiatives carried out in the university Campus aimed to promote and disseminate renewable energies technologies and
distributed power generation systems. The electric vehicle is called IPB ECO Buggy and is based on state-of-the-art
technology with respect to the electric propulsion system and battery which are described in detail. A specific on-board data
acquisition system is also described which has been developed aimed to monitor several parameters and record data for
analysis in order to evaluate the performance of the vehicle.
