abstract
Composite Steel Truss and Concrete Beam (CSTCB) are composite elements designed to resist bending, consisting of a steel truss encased in concrete casted in place, with a steel base plate or pre-casted concrete plate. Design resistance moment was determined for the initial constructive stage, using simply supported truss beam with three-point bending load. Two different typologies were compared for three different beam lengths, using three dimensional finite element analyses. Critical load was determined for different buckling mode shapes, using linear elastic analysis. The first mode and two other particular buckling mode shapes were considered as initial imperfection modes. The resistance moment was calculated, based on geometric and material non-linear analysis.
